HI, WANT TO USE A NEWLY AQUIRED HUNTING RIFLE,ITS AN OLD BUT REBLUED STEVENS HIGH POWER. I KNOW THEY WEREN'T MADE VERY LONG BUT IT LOOKS JUST LIKE A MARLIN. ARE THEY RELIABLE??

Better have it checked out good (Head-Space, Test Fired etc) by a "qualified" Gunsmith. Your new/old toy is over 85 years old. Stevens quit making them when New England Westinghouse took over the Stevens factory for War Production prior to our entrance into the First World War, circa 1917. They never resumed production after the war. 0 -
The Stevens "High Power" No.425 was only made from 1910-1917 and only about 26,000 were ever made. They were made in caliber 25, .30-30, 32 and 35. These rifles can be worth a good bit of money depending on which model you have. The 425 was the cheapest and most plain of the four models and the most common. In original condition the 425 will bring anywhere from around $500-$1,000. Since yours has been reblued it would not bring quite that much on the market.
If your rifle is in very good or better condition, it should be safe to shoot, however, it is always a good idea to have a used rifle checked.0
