Countrygunsmith, trigger pull on PA63?
I saw a reply that you made to a post about the PA 63 and that you had done some work to them to make them a better shooter. I bought one from SOG for the ol lady to carry in her car when she works the night shift and we both really like it except the trigger pull. What did you do to soften it up and did you shorten it any as well? I can buy them for $89 and am thinking of getting 2 more just to stick in the glove compartment of the rest of our vehicles. Any advice that you can give me would be appreciated. What would you charge to work on the trigger pull? I have my FFL so shipping would be no problem. Thanks for any info.

Our basic package on the PA63 involves removing the sharp edges (and they are there, believe me!), polishing the feedramp and slide rails and reducing/smoothing the trigger pull. Options include AO Systems nightsights and custom finishes.
The trigger job is very similar to a Walther PP series, but with more polishing needed. Mainspring replacement, of course. Havent played with altering the geometry yet, but I'd give it a go...

Let me know how this turns out. I too bought a PA-63 from SOG. I took it to three different gun smiths. They all said it appeared never to have been fired. I took it shooting with my wife's brand new Walther PPK/S. I'll be darned if that PA-63 didn't shoot better and tighter groups than the Walther! The only problems were, of course, who can see the sights and that trigger pull. With less pull and good sights, this gun might be a dandy shooter. The only other problem is this little triangular clip doohickey. I believe it holds the piece of metal that pushed down on the magazine in place. Real technical descriptions but I don't know what all of this is called. If you are too aggressive cleaning it from the breech, this can pop out. Other than that, it shoots fine. I've heard people comment on the recoil but I haven't noticed that to be a problem. Anyway, let me know how this works out. I'd be interesting in getting mine tuned up as well. How in the world do you put sights on these things?0 -
By the time that you do this, you'll have a lot more money in a lot less gun, than a Star BM compact 9mm from SOG ($190 Dealer, with a spare mag included) $240 should also cover the shipping and FFL fees and taxes. 7.2", 28 ozs, single stack 8 rd mag, nice sights, trigger, safety. The 9x18 has only half the power of a 9x19, and being a blowback action, you can't really hot load the 9x18 any, either. The 9x18 is a bit too big for the pants pocket, too. 0 -
Snuff, to be quite honest with you I didn't ask your d*** opinion on the matter. I am a dealer and know more sh** about the guns that I handle than you do. You shoot off what you want ( judgeing by the past flood of posts from you) it is your mouth. I don't need your advice nor did I ask for it so why don't you do me a favor and just go away.[:(!]
