I shot the 500 S&W today!
Yep, it is one big gun, that shoots really big buddits. I have to say that it did not kick as bad as I thought it was going to, given that it has almost ~2600 ft.lbs. of energy at the muzzle. I think the weight of the gun, coupled with the compensator really tames it down somewhat. However, don't take that it still doesn't kick. Its kind of like a big push, a really big, fast push. I found the barrel too long for my needs. I would think a 6" barrel would be better suited for hunting and in field carry. I found myself pulling the gun up due to the unbalanced feel of it.
Fellows, all I can tell is to try it out to see if you like it. The S&W reps are taking them around to the better gun stores now to market it. My guess is they will probably come out with a 500 S&W special version that is equivalent to a .454 Casull. Some kind of special that will be, huh.[:D] I still like my FA 83 in .454 Casull for now.

how was the accuracy? in the G&A spread it looks like you cant hit the side of a barn with it. 0
