Detachable magazine conversion for mauser?
Has anyone adapted a large ring mauser to use fal or G3 type magazines? I need a large capacity bolt rifle with detachable mags. Anyone have any thoughts... I have an Enfield .308, but thats only 12 and the action isn't what the mauser is. If I were to shoot the enfield as much as I need to I would probably end up with a bolt through my head. I am just a little skeptical of their strength. It isn't especially accurate either.

Numrich and Sarco have 20 round Mauser mags ... cost about $80, I haven't heard of anyone adapting FAL or G3 mags

I saw the 20 round mauser mags, but at $80 they are cost prohibitive.... when I need at least 5. A local club is shooting a tactical rifle shoot where 60 or more rounds are used at steel plates in Ipsc type manner. I have rifles which work well for the semi auto class, but wanted to game the tactical guys who are using all kinds of fancy scope mounts and stripper clips. I shot it last week with open sights and strippers but thought that this type of setup might work well instead.

Gunparts Corporation (www.e-gunparts.com) has them.
They have a 5 round removable clip that I saw in one of their flyers a few months ago for $25. Here is their April flyer and they have 20 rounders for $65 for sale.

You can get WWI 20 rd mags from shotgun news . also the 3rd mage are about $ 28.00 now , from GIBBS and gunparts . 0 -
Find yourself a nice shooter of a .303 Enfield and forget about the expense of modifying a perfectly good rifle to use external mags. The rat rectal orifi won't believe you're using them in a bolt action anyway and wil lgive you no end of grief for having one of those evil 20 round mags. And there's no problem shooting a 7.62 No. 4 as much as you like. 0 -

I had a 308 jungle carbine enfield that used 12rd mags. It kicked too hard for my liking so I gave it to a friend. I would've sworn that it used cut down FN Fal mags. Anyone want to give it a try.
