Model PA63 9x18mm Pistol Questions
Can you tell me what company and where they are located that maufactured this semi-automatic pistol? Are they still being made and/or being imported?
How do you rate the quality of this pistol? How does the 9x18mm compare to the 9mm Luger (9x19mm)?
Any information will be appreciated.

The 9x19 Luger rd is feeble enough, and the 380rd has HALF of the Luger rd's "power". The price of 380 ammo is HIGHER than that of 9mm ammo. The Kahr PM9 9mm is lighter, smaller than the 380, and is adequately controlable. If you can't afford 9mm ammo, you can't afford any centerfire. There's no point in popping a centerfire cap (other than on primer powered wax ammo) until you are a MASTER of the .22. As in able to toss up a couple of soda cans, draw from a concealed belt rig, and hit both in midair, at least 3 out of 4 tries. 0 -

The PA-63 is made in Hungary and I'm pretty sure they are still being imported ... they are patterend after the Walther PP, have a fixed barrel and are fairly accurate ... the double action triggerpull on 2 samples I had were long, gritty and in excess of 15 pounds, the single action pull after that was 7-8 pounds but crisp ... but for around $100 wholesale not a bad buy, these are far and away a better buy than a Lorcin or other simularly priced pistol (but not quite as flashy)

The PA63 is a solid defensive pistol, and import 9x18 ammunition is relatively inexpensive. We have taken several as-issued from SOG and turned them into pretty slick little guns.

They aint ENOUGH more powerful than a .22 to MATTER any. NO gun can do more than fire the rd for which it is CHAMBERED. Of 5, read that again, FIVE Plus P 158 gr lhp's, 850 fps, that struck Platt and Matix in the head, at 3-6 FEET, from the 4" barrel of Mirules" .38 revolver, not ONE, ZERO, NADA, ZILCH were able to penetrate to the brain. You THINK that the even MORE feeble 9x18 rd amounts to anything? 0 -
F.E.G. stands for Fegyver es Gazkeszuelekgyara, which loosely translates (my Hungarian is awful- I do much beter with the Slavic laguages) into The Arms, Appliances, and Gas Works of Budapest. This is a very large and quite modern factory (I have been there) with a full range of manufacturering facilities. The arms portion was incorperated in the mid 1970's and absorbed what were the old Hungarian firms of Frommer and Femaru. FEG is best known in Europe for thier fine versions of the Kalashnikov Rifle, copies of the Walther PP/PPk Pistols, and copies of the Browning Hi-Power.
I agree with everything which has already been said about the PA-63. I own one of these myself (I am looking at it right now) and consider these to be an excellent value for the money. To manufacturer a pistol of this quality here in the United States would easily cost two or three times the amount which these little Hungarian pistols sell for. The 9mm Makarov cartridge is readily available and offers decent power, slightly above the .380 ACP, although well below the 9mm Parabellum. At the low prices these pistols are currently selling for I don't think you can go wrong buying one.

Thanks for the feed back guys. Personally I like the PA63, its pleasant to shoot, ammo is inexpensive and its a good looking pistol.
The ammo I guess, is somewhere between the .380acp and 9mm Luger power-wise. Its also very compact making it an easy concealed carry gun and is ideal for an in-pants holster. The Cor-bon ammo (95gr HP) has a MV of 1050 fps.
I'm not interested in any quick draw or shooting tin cans in the air -just the effectiveness of the cartridge and the concealment factor.
I usually carry a .38 Chiefs Special or a 9mm Cat-9 with the first few rounds being Glazers and the remainder Cor-Bon rounds.

You can sure go wrong SHOOTING somebody with it. It's just a bluff, because of its inadequate power, and a .22 can bluff, too, MUCH more cheaply than can the 9x18. A M21 Beretta .22 lr is a lot lighter and smaller, and can be smithed into a FINE little trail gun. They go for $150 or less, used. 0 -

Well I see that SNUFF has added himself to the select few of allowing hot air to be passed from both ends of his body[8]Everthing that these fine people have placed before you is both good and accurate information[:D]with the exception of "quick draw McGraw Snuff"[V]I have one thing to add about ammo for this little butt kicker. Russian Bear Ammunition makes a 120 gr JHP in the 9mm x 18mm Makarov. It is a very effective self defense load and one that I use in my Bulgarian. [8D]You can take the PA 63 to a good gun smith and he/she can lighten the trigger pull[:I]Enjoy you weapon and if you ever need a spare magazine you will find one on Gunbroker listed under "clips/Magazines" 0 -
What they have placed before you is BS. Just because THEY happen to believe it does not make it so. A Stinger, from a .22 rifle, has 160ft lbs of energy, and it REALLY expands its hp. The 9x18 has a WHOOPEE 200 WHOLE FT LBS, A WHOPPING 25% MORE than the 22, a whole other 40 ft lbs,about what a CB cap has from a handgun. So your wonderful 9x18 hits as "hard" as does a .22 rife using Stingers, and a CB from a handgun. whoopee, that's a LOT of power, now aint it? The 300 ft lb loads of the 4" .38, plus P lhp's, failed 5x5 times to pierce the skulls of Platt and Matix, at ranges of 3-6 ft. you want to settle for 1/3rd LESS power than that paltry amount, you go for it. 0 -
Well Snuff, why don't you shoot yourself with a 9mm Mak and a 9mm Luger and a .22 and tell us if you feel a difference?
