what is going on with unertl and their target and varmint scopes?Are they going to make them again? Larry

I OWN SEVERAL UNERTAL SCOPES THAT I AM GOING TO SELL. ONE UNIT IN PATICULAR HAS A 4 DIGIT S/N WITH NO "PRIZM" AROUND THE NAME AND S/N.
I CALLED UNERTL AND THEY TOLD ME THE UNIT WAS BUILT IN THE 30'S.
DOES THIS ADD EXTRA VALUE OR WOULD IT DETRACT FROM VALUE BECAUSE OF THE AGE.

Age, or rather rarity, which may or may not be a function of age will play a factor in price. Obviously a less common scope will command a higher price. Some of the Unertl's were built from the 1930's into the 1980's or beyond. Older ones do not necessarily command more than newer ones. Condition and the presense of the case and any associated materials will move the value up within the value range, for example the 1-inch clear aperture objective target scope will bring $200-$350 and the wood case adds $50 or a little more. 0 -

How about giveing us a "heads up" when you are ready to sell. Iam always interested in Unertl target scopes at a reasonable price. 0 -
Interesting - I picked up a Super Varmenter a couple of decades ago that had fog. I sent it to Unertl for repairs in 1990 and John Unertl himself did it for me (sent me back a note - charged me only $20!). 0 -
ONLY THING I KNOW ABOUT THESE SCOPES IS THAT SEVERAL MODEL 70'S WITH UNERTL SCOPES WERE SNIPER RIFLES IN VIETNAM.I DONT KNOW IF CARLOS HATHCOCK HIMSELF HAD ONE BUT SEVERAL OTHER NOTABLES OF THAT ERA HAD THEM
