warne scope mounts
Any opinions on these mounts. I am looking to put them on my new Tikka

I have used Warrne's Maxima bases on many of my rifles. They are on my hardist kickers like my 338 Win Mag. I have never had any reason to find falt with them. The Maxima is their Weaver style base. I have had problems with their rings and have stopped using them. 0 -

Mostly the screws were brittle, with what I consider to be reasonable torque they would snap when locking down the ring to the scope leaving a non removable bit in the hole. I have and had several sets before any problems cropped up. When the first set snapped on me I called the manufacturer and was told that they had a bad batch of screws get out. They were very agreeable and had me return the rings for replacement. Half a year latter I needed another set of rings, bought Warrne, snapped em again. I then repeated the previous go round with the company. They will make good on their product, but I lost all confidence. I didn't want to be in the field and have the rings go south at the worst possible time. I have since moved on to Weaver 4x4 rings for lighter kick rifles and Talleys for the bigger and am completely satisfied. 0 -
Warne makes some of the strongest & best rings available today.
Two different basic metals: Premier-(steel cut), and Maxima (sintered alloy).
Maxima is about the strongest ring you can buy today. Use it on most every heavy recoiling rig like 50BMG's especially with heavier scopes, and high mounts on ULR rifles.
Only Premier is available for Tikka. Very stylish, and rock solid.
They even make mounts for some famous scope makers.
They had some screws (they buy them)that were mistempered-soft. They were the good ole slot heads that work great if people use correct screwdriver tips, and procedures.
But they changed to Torx heads about a year ago.
I still use slots on collectible older rifles that are being 'peroidized' with age correct mounts and scopes. Torx heads weren't made way back then.

I have hundreds of Warne bases,and rings in stock. One of my favorites.
TIPS:
#1. They package a SHORT wrench with base & ring sets. Too often long and/or heavy Torx wrenches, screwdrivers, and bit drivers are used which over torque the screws. Causing distortion of the threads weakening the joint, or breaking screws. Have seen broken screws by many different companies, after 'X' amount of shots because the screws were already weakened, and finally broke from fatigue.
#2.Scope MOUNTED, and positioned for eye relief.
After all four screws are lightly tightened, tighten the bottom screws FIRST, thus evenly gripping the base, and giving more correct alignment. Then tighten the top rings.
Too often Warne rings are tightened first at the top, or just too much. This over stresses the screws, and makes for a poorer fit on the base.

The pair I got from guns-and-glass works great, and looks great too. I needed them to hold a 36oz nightforce still under slightly heavy recoil. So far so great[8D][8]
why chase the game when the bullet can get em from here?....
