Beretta 687E barrel bent?

Alright guys and gals, for Christmas this year my father gave me a the above referenced 20 gauge o/u. It had never been shot, he bought it at a DU banquet in 1987 I think and is not really a "gun person". So I took it out, cleaned, inspected,etc. Then we took it to shoot. Between my husband and I we emptied a 100 ct. box of shells. It didn't shoot the greatest. I am not at all experienced with o/u guns and don't know the ins and outs so to speak, but my husband says, he thinks the barrel is bent. He says that he noticed while watching me, then while he himself shot the gun that it just didnt seem right. Is there any normal variance on the barrel that is supposed to be there. I mean I normally shoot a pump, for skeet, turkeys, and doves, so I have no reference point. Or is it just that we have no real idea what we are doing and its the normal way these guns are made. I am not a shotgun expert by any stretch of the imagination. Please help.[:)]

  It's highly unlikely the barrels are bent. However, put a spirit level on the barrels to be sure. Then pattern it the same way you did your pump.

  YOU DID NOT SAY . ARE YOU A LEFT SIDE SHOOTER. THESE GUNS OFTEN HAVE AN OFSET STOCK FOR RIGHT SIDE SHOOTERS.

  You should pattern the gun first.
  Where is the center of the pattern (both top and bottom) compaired to the aim point? How do the pattern centers compair between the top and bottom barrel?
  If both barrels hit to the same place, and the centers are close to the aim point the barrels are ok. If not, contact Beretta.
