FFL mumbo jumbo

I know that when you order a gun it has to go to your ffl dealer. If you send it back you can send it yourself. If it is sent back for repair or something does it have to go back to the ffl or can it go straight to you?[8)]

  Federal law allows for you to receive your own firearm for the purpose of repair or replacement (with the same model) from any dealer, gun smith or manufacturer. If you need to return a firearm for warrenty work, repairs, custom gun smithing, ect., it can be shipped right back to you without having to go through your dealer. State laws on this can vary tremendously!

  The weapon cannot be shipped by you as a non FFL holder thru the Post Office nor can it be shipped to you as a non FFL holder thru the Post Office, Another thing is that some common carriers will only ship a firearm if either the receiving party or the shipping party has an FFL. As stated above you must also be concerned about state requirments, there are some space cadets that passed laws in some states that require all firearms shipments be sent thru an FFL holder. Be safe not sorry, check with your local FFL holder and he/she should be able to assist you.[V]

  Not exactly.
  
  A non-licensee CAN use USPS to ship & receive a rifle or shotgun (not a handgun) to a manufacturer, distributor or dealer for repair or customizing. He can even ship it to himself (say, for a hunt in another state). The only requirement is that the shipper comply with GCA 68 & 18 USC 921. Refer to USPS Publication 52, section 43.
