Browning Buck Mark vs. Ruger MKII

Well I'm going to buy a .22 auto and want to know which one is better. They both feel good in the hand.

Discuss cleaning and accuracy as well as ability to use cheap ammo.

    I would go with the Ruger. I have shot the Browning and the one I used was not as accurate as the Ruger.
    My good friend here also had the Browning and he used it for about 6 mo's and then traded it for the Rugerll.

    My Ruger was bought in the middle 80's and has nver failed me as of today, so what more can one ask for. Has shot every brand of ammo that I could fine over all them years and never a problem!

    RUGER brownings are priced higher but the ruger is better all around.

    With a Browning 5 1/2" Buckmark bull barrel, you'll be able to put your shots "inside" the shots of the Ruger.
    Also have something to look at, be proud of and hold it's value.

    IMHO Their is no comparison the Ruger 22/45 with a 4 5/8 in Bull barrel.This gun shoots well enough to shoot target with it.The 22/45 feels alot like a .45 1911 in the Hand.If you dont like that I suggest the MKII.Good Luck!

    My BuckMark was the first pistol I had baught. From what I can tell you, I could hit anything I wanted. 75 yards... no problem. It shot striaght and smooth. I never have had a problem with it. Unfortunately it is now being used as trading fodder for a Mossberg .308 800A.
    This is just my experience.

    My vote would go to the Buck Mark, but the vote is well split here, so you are probably going to have to make your own choice. If you are not shooting competition, likely either will serve you well.

    My vote would be for the Ruger. I practice technique with it and it is a great shooting little gun. For the price difference you can add a really cool dot sight!

    Ruger. I have a 6 7/8" target. One of the guys I shoot with has the bull ~5" buckmark. Mine shoots better. I shoot his and get groups about 50% bigger then my ruger groups. He shoots my ruger and gets smaller groups then his groups with the buckmark. It IS the gun making the difference. After he shot mine he put a ruger on his list of guns to buy.

    The buckmark is easier to clean. Rugers are kind of a pain in the butt to clean. I usually don't clean mine till i get a misfeed, which happens after 1000 or so rounds of fouling build up. Its a lil trooper till it gets dirty enough :).

    From what I gather here, as well as reading past postings, there is a about a 50-50 split out there. Someone said he had to hold both and close his eyes just to see which one felt better. I may try that.

    I've shot my Ruger KMK678GC stainless slabside in silhouette competition for about 8 years against even fancier and more expensive Brownings, Sigs, Smiths and others only to find that the Ruger is by far the better firearm.
    I've used RWS, ELEY and other match grade ammo in it; but it prefers the homemade Federal #711 Gold Medal for only $1.25 a box.
    Best grouping at paper was a 3/8" hole at 50 yds with the Federal stuff-best I ever got out of any other brand was a 5/8" hole with ELEY Club Xtra.

    You won't go wrong with either. I have both and love both. The buckmark tends to run just a little bit more in price, but I don't really like one any more than the other. I guess if I had to pick one, I'd hang on to the Ruger Mark II, just because I think it feels just a touch better. It has the target grips with the thumbrest, and ruger did a fine job with these grips to make the gun feel good in your hands. Both are quality pistols and I wish you the best in your purchase.
