No one in my neck of the woods has a bore scope, The barrel is heavy and Floated, I have not checked run out yet, but will the next batch I load, Torked the action screws to 50 inch pounds, Dont know about the scope, kind of think it's all right as I shot 4- 4 shot gropes of 1/2" at the same place in the target, I am trying differnt O.A.C This is a chalange and I am retired so I have the time to mess with it, I might end up taking your advice and have the barrel shorten. I was surprised that the NEW brass shot the same as the old, as you know I neck size only and the old brass was fire formed. And again many thanks for all the help.

We may have to carry this over to general discussion. I would assume that the barrel was floated,...but have you personaly run the dollar bill test? My barrel showed a lot of room on the sides of the stock, but the contact point was found underneath where the eyes wouldn't readily see it. I would prefer 3-4 dollar bills have clearance,...that eliminates any heat/contact issues.
If it does touch, look to see if the bedding has worn in the stock, and allowed the action to torque around and helped the barrel shift off center of the barrel channel.
I know this is redundant, but with new brass producing the same group, I am skeptical of the load being the cause. Unless your powder is a different lot, with a much different burn rate than the lot used to make the original accuracy load, I can't see it being the powder. If you are using the same brand primers, that eliminates the ignition rate/pressure curve as the cause. And, as long as the same bullet is used, set at the same OAL, then I just don't see the components contributing. All I can come up with, is the neck run-out, or inconsistent primer seating (which I have recently been schooled on, but have not yet experimented with). I do know that K&M sets their small rifle primer pocket uniformer at .122" depth and .131" for large rifles. I beleive the RCBS uniformer gets them very close to that as well.
Bore scopes are expensive, and most folks don't keep them around just to check a throat every 1200rnds or so. But,..A good gunsmith will have one. Get the name of a good one from your local gunshop, give him a call, and go see him. He can run the scope in your rifle in no time at all, and instantly tell you all about your throat. If he expects you to bring him your future work, he will most likely do it for free as well. It may cost you a ride of a few hours, but he can tell you multitudes about the interior of your barrel.

Morning C. The barrel is free floated about a 1/4" gap all around, the action is glass bedded, But am going to redo it tomorrow. and yes I have bedded a lot of my rifles and some for friends, they all worked out great. old retired gun smith tought me how.
I think you are right about the Amo. but will check run out on the next batch I load, I forgot about that, thank you.
A friend has some other primers that he is going to give me to try, I have been useing CCI, federal match, He has some winchesters and some remingtons. Their are 4 of us that are retired and give one another differnt componuts to try before we buy, It's expencive to buy a pound of powder for $20.00 and find out the gun does not like it. This same friend gave me some Speers bullets to try the last time out, I have been useing Seira's and hornady, the speers did the same thing as the others.
The Primer tool is a hand job I think it is a K.M and ajustable for seating depth, the neck turner is a K.M. hand type.
I hope you are enjoying this as much as I am, It's great to get some one else's Input, as I am 66 years old and not the brighest Bulb in the store. And you know what you are talking about. thanks again.0 -

Also, how do you feel about the K&M neck turner? I have been thinking of buying one of them, but the Sinclair kit with the dial, cutter, pilots, shell holder, cutter, guage, and block seems to be a good deal to. I have been told to go with the K&M because it is more easily adjustable. What do you think?

The K&M neck turner is very easy to adjust and locks up great, it's a hand turner and my thumbs get tired but seem to do the job allright. I have never tried or even seen the sinclair. I have a neck turner for my Foster case trimer, but I think the K&M is more presision, I'm afraid that I aint been much help.
Will keep you posted on the cause. today I sanded out the old glass bedding and got the stock ready, will go out in the morning and do the top action bedding, then Thursday I'll do the bottom metal, will be ready to try by Sunday but I do not go to the range on the week end's. I'm retired and leave the range for the working people on the week ends, will get to try monday if nothing gets in the way.0
