1894 Win. SRC
I'm confused! I see a lot of parts for sale on the net for "pre 64" 94 Winchester carbines. What are the differences between an early 94 SRC and one of the newer pre 64 carbines. (1955-1960 vintage). I'm in need of a front and rear barrel band, mag. tube, mag. spring, follower and cap. The mag. tube on the later pre 64's seems to long by about 1/2". Will these parts work?
Thanks, Taperloc

I don'tknow if the parts will work but I do know that pre 64 were hand made and post 64 were machine made.

In the year 1964 Winchester changed their manufacturing procedures to include sintered metal receivers as well as stamped rather than milled parts. They also reduced some tolerances and did away with the time-consuming and labor intensive hand fitting of stocks.
