Is there any down falls with the Sako Warbird?
I will be buying one in a weeks time,just curious to hear anything about them.
Is $1600 Canadian a high price?

  The downfalls are the price of the ammo ($100 U.S. for a box of 20), the selection of ammo if you do not reload and maybe the recoil. It shoots smooth and it tends to push back on recoil and is not a sharp jab. If you can handle the push, it is nice to shoot. Mine was unbelievably accurate with a custom load from www.lostriverballistic.com and the cost of the custom load was about the same as the factory load but the J36 bullet is a far better bullet than the Match bullet Lazzeroni hypes for hunting. Mine shot a 168gr J36 bullet about 3600 fps with a 5/8 group at 100 yards. As for price you can get them for $800 U.S. normally and I saw them sold by Lazzman on this site for $739 for a while back.

  Yep. Too much money for a rifle you'll have difficulty finding ammo for. If you can find it at all.
  Travis, it's normal for firearms to be roughly 100% more expensive in Canada. By the time you add the 60% plus exchange rate, shipping, customs fee, taxes(yes, they add sales tax to imports not purchased here), registration fee and all the rest of it, you're up to or over 100% higher here.

  Thanks for the info Sunray, I was not aware of the big price jump. I thought it was just on cigarettes. I switched to a 7mm ultra mag due to the ammo cost and inconvenience of the warbird (but it was fun while it lasted).

  Thanks for the replies.I will be reloading my own shells as soon as the dealer can find me a set of dies.I think rcbs makes dies for that cartridge.The recoil wont be a problem it should be very close to my 300 ultramag.I had originally told the dealer that I wanted 2 boxes of shells with the gun but not at that price.I just talked to him recently and he is having a hard time locating ammunition.I told him I will not buy the gun unless he could get the dies and some brass, but he's pretty confident because he ordered the gun already.

  If you are going to do your own loading you will love the gun. The lazzeroni brass is really high quality and can be used over up to 20 times according to the Lazzeroni company. What I did was buy some loaded ammo and after shooting it for practice I had it reloaded. Be sure when you hunt to be conscious of where your casing lands because they are about $2.50 per casing to replace. Enjoy.
