S&W Mod. 1076 10mm Recall Question

I picked up my 1076 today and it is in excellent condition - looks like it has rarely been fired. My main concern now is the fact that the two dots under the decocker indicating the pistol has been worked on by S&W gunsmith do not apear on my pistol. Just what exactly was the decocker problem that resulted in a recall? I read the article bambi hunter sent me but all it says is the the pistol may not function unless some modification is made to the decocker.
I'd like to hear from anyone who has a 1076 and what if any problems they experienced without the factory modification. Unless its a major problem or defect, I would prefer not to send it back to S&W. However if it is a serious safety related problem, I will send it to the factory asap.
I've got to say that it is one heck of a pistol plus the fact I got it at a very good price.
I'd really appreciate any feedback you can give me on this "Decocker Problem". I'll take it out to the range next Saturday if this lousy weather ever clears up.

BTW - Bambi Hunter - I checked out the S&W forum - apparently the 1076 is the most available S&W 10mm Model - it was made from 1993 to 1995 in a fairly large quantity compared to their other 10mm models.
I was told the 1076 usually goes for $450 to $700 depending on condition. I don't think you could go wrong in buying one..

  The 1076 is the 3rd gun on my list... I have 15 hours left on bidding for the 1st item on the list, so maybe it'll move up one notch. I'd sure like to have one!

  bambihunter - I'm very impressed with the quality of the 1076 and it is a handful to hold - large hands are necessary. I've been on the S&W Forum Board you recommended and learned that in many of the later models the problem was repaired and no black dots were placed beneath the decocking lever - instead the yellow follower magazine was marked with several indentations in specific places to indicate it was already updated. I'm going to follow your advice and either call or e-mail S&W to find out one way or another whether my pistol needs to be sent back.
  I hope you win the gun you're bidding on - I won a cased flat top 44-40 Cimarron SA 7 1/2" barrel w/ case hardened frame and blued barrel
  last night on Gunbroker Auction. It's a banquet gun I've been told.
  I really didn't want to spend that kind of money right now but I couldn't pass it up.
  Anyway I'll let you know what I find out from S&W and I'll also keep an eye out for any 1076 good buys for you - I paid $300 for mine - I accidentally stumbled on a dealers classified ad who wanted to reduce his stock so he dropped the price from $450 or $475 to $300. Pure luck on my part - if I ever see anything like this again on a 1076 - I'll e-mail you right away.
