.223 auto recommendations
I've been out of the hobby for over 10 years and now finally getting back into things. had a mini-14 in the past liked it but sold it way back.
Now looking to get a replacement 223 auto and since I've been out of touch thought I should check around and get ecommendations and experiences from others.
I'm looking for as accurate as possible 223 auto, within financial reasonableness, that's also still fun to shoot.
Appreciate any feedback.

Although I love Mini-14's, they are not known for their accuracy. Any AR-15/clone from the Armalite, Colt or Bushmaster will give you
excellent accuracy. JMHO

AR clone is the only logical choice due to the abundance of rifles and parts available.
HK has made some nice 223s.
There are some FN clone conversions available.

My two favorites are Armalite and Bushmaster. You can not go wrong with ither one. My 2 cents [8D]

Welcome to the board, lots of good info on here. I have a Rock River LAR15 which I highly recommend. I too say go the AR15 type route, They just have so much more available out there.

Hello, I just bought a Bushmaster Varminter and have been extremely pleased with it. It is a great shooting gun and the accuracy is incredible. The best part about it is the trigger that Bushmaster has in it. Some AR15 triggers leave something to be desired, this one is beautiful! 0 -
I would go with bushmaster or armalite. Very accurate and fun to shoot. A little expensive but worth the money. 0 -
Availability of parts? Is that really a criteria for selecting a fun gun?What about NUMBER of parts being a criteria for de-selecting a gun? The AR types have tiny springs, balls, washers, pins of all kinds, any ONE of which could fail and leave you standing there wishing you still had that Mini.
Besides; almost anyone with a Dremel and some Bondo can make a Mini shoot as well as an AR-who'd take an out-of-the-box gun to Palma anyway?

Mini-14, just what everyone wants a factory gun that requires gunsmithing out of the box!
Good luck finding a hicap mag that will work in a Mini 14. Good luck finding one that works for the price of an AR mag. Oh and have fun shooting at the range, don't fire that Ruger too fast, it'll start on fire.
Check out a Siaga if your interested in a Mini 14. I want to see a Gun Tests report that compares the 2 rifles out of the box. My money is on the Siaga.

i would have to disagree about the mini 14 shooting better than the ar15. more accessories and accuracy enhancement features have been utilized in the ar15 line. the bushmaster varmint as stated above is the ultimate in my opinion. 0 -
HI welcome, just got siaga 223 out of box very good acc. installed scoup I could not get over very well it shot. You want a rifle that will shot good, cheap, and fun this is the one to get. just received 30 round mag. for sar3, will have to do some fitting but it will work can't go wrong.[8D] 0 -
You can't go wrong with a Bushmaster AR. You can also purchase any number of upper receivers in various configurations (heavy barrel match, short carbine, standard rifle), switch these over in less than one minute and suddenly get a new rifle type while still using the same lower receiver. I doubt that the Ruger is nearly so versitile... even with fewer pins, springs, balls and washers in its design.

For the money, Bushmaster is the way to go. Plus you can put a great trigger in it easier than Colt. Oh yeah, what Mark said too.
