    We'll probably need a little more to go on. Could the remaining inscription be Armas, rather than arams? Armas means Arms or Weapons in Spanish, and is usually part of an inscription such as "Fabrica de Armas La Coruna" (Coruna Arms Factory). Your rifle may well be in 7x57mm Mauser (7mm Mauser). A description of any other markings such as proof marks might help.

    leo;
    As Gehirgsjager states it is likely a 7x57mm.
    If the letters are "ARMAS" it is, and this is purely speculation
    with the limited info, a Spanish or Agentine mauser.

    If you can find a copy, take a squint at Robert Ball's wonderful book, "Mauser Military Rifles of the World" (Krause Publications, 1996.) Lots 'o pix and info on proofmarks and such.
