Check the CA Department of Justice website. As far as I remember tube-fed pump shotguns are fairly exempt from any regulations there.

    Love them Beavers

As long as your barrel is at least 18 inches long and it doesn't have a bayonet lug or grenade launcher on it, it should be ok,good luck...

Did the gun come with a permanant factory-installed extended tube?

I used to have an 870. I ordered an extended tube and a pistol-grip stock for it. The two items arrived in the mail along with a letter from the ATF stating that the simultaneous installation of both parts would constitute an illegal assault weapon. I was living in Iowa at the time. You may or may not be in violation of CA state law but you may want to run it by federal law just to be on the safe side.

The most useless thing in the world is a shotgun with no stock. Looks cool, but is much more difficult to control.

I know plenty of people who have pistol-grip (non-shoulder) stocks who also replaced the fore-grip with a pistol-grip and claim that it is very easy to control because the recoil is distributed nicely.
