Ithaca Model 37 barrel compatability question
Someone just gave me an Ithaca Model 37 receiver, with a serial number BELOW 855,000. I know that modern barrels are interchangeable on guns with ser numbers ABOVE 855,000- but do all Ithaca guns with numbers BELOW 855,000 have the same threads for barrels. In other words, if I was to buy an "older" barrel, will it fit on an older gun, or are the threads different from gun to gun among the older guns.
Thanks for any help

Why not give the Ithaca factory a call for a definitive answer.
We know later ones are interchangeable with each other but early ones
may need factory fitting in order to lock up at the right point. It's a pretty precision business for a barrel shoulder to snug up when the barrel is rotated to the assembled position.
You could buy the used barrel with the agreement to return it if it doesn't fit. Also check the headspace.
Making it fit if it doesn't, could involve minor lathe work of moving the barrel shoulder or making a spacer. and possibly rechambering if the barrel has to be set back.0
