9mm and SOG
Newbie question again
I purchased the Star Model Super B in 9mm from SOG based on advice from this board (Not slamming you guys). The internet advertisment states "very good condition". I also opted for the hand picked $10 add on. When the firearm arrived the first thing I noticed was that the box label stated it as "good". I thought maybe just a box switch but the serial number on the label matches the firearm. The firearm shows obvious signs of wear, but the action is smooth and it seems to work okay (I have not fired it yet). My purchase was based on the very good condition advertised and this was based on what I have purchased on Gunbroker and NRA grades.
Does SOG use NRA grades? What do I have to do to return it and of course the all ever expecting answer from you guys will be "You get what you pay for"

I have made a couple of purchases from them with no problems. I have not bought the Star though. Best thing I could say is to call or write them and say just what your post says. This is no fly-by-night outfit. You might be plesently surprised on what they say. If you do this, follow up on the board with the outcome.

Basic definitions:
Very Good:
Perfect working condition, no appreciable wear on WORKING surfaces, no corrosion or pitting, minor surface dents or scratches.
Good:
Safe working condition, minor wear on working surfaces, no broken parts, any corrosion or pitting won't interfere with proper function.

SOG,is a good company.But if the gun was advertised as very good the box should be marked the same.Maybe they just plain made a mistake.I've bought a few guns and paid the extra and got new guns.

I've only heard good things about that company. I would call them up and explain the problem. Could be a simple mistake.

I recently ordered a rifle from them that was supposed to be very good to excellent (by their description). When it arrived it was rusty all over. The wood was very rough and the bore was unsafe. I called them and described the gun and its condition, reiterated their original description. The woman at customer service said I could return for an exchange, but then admitted that the ones they had left were just as bad as that one. So she advised that I probably wouldn't like any of those either. She then said that I could just have a credit on my account for the rifle.
I mentioned that I thought that they should change the description in their add if what they had left was in fact fair to poor, but being advertised as very good to excellent. The next add reflected just that, or at least a lower rated condition.
Overall, they were pretty good about the whole thing, but their original desription of the weapon definitely did not match their current inventory.
In their defense however. The difference between good and very good is somewhat subjective. The difference between "very good to excellent" and "rusty, unsafe, poor" is significant (as was the case with the rifle of mine). However, you are correct to be concerned about the description saying "very good", paying the extra select fee and the gun coming in a box marked "good". I'd say you have a legit complaint.0
