Why not just ask the question? Maybe we can come up with something.

If you want the exact year each of your guns were shipped, you will have to get a letter on each from S&W. The book only lists dates of manufacture and serial number ranges for these early guns. Here they are in order:
    #1 made from 1878-1912(serial numbers from #1-35796)
    #2 made from 1881-1913(serial numbers from #1-54668)
    #3 made from 1883-1909(serial numbers from #43406-282999)
    #4 made from 1884-1895(serial numbers from #119001-322700)
    #5 made from 1882-1883(serial numbers from #22173-43405)

These numbers were copied from the "Standard Catalog of S&W" by Supica & Nahas. It's a good book for the price,as is the "History of S&W" by Roy Jinks.

    Hello Emery,
Here are the best guess dates that I can come up with useing the books and interpolating between serial numbers on revolvers from my collection for which I have letters. I may be off a year or two, but, is the best I can do without paying $30 per serial number to get the information from Jinks.
    1. 1874
    2. 1892
    3. 1898
    4. 1884
    5. 1883
I said before these dates should be ballpark and give you an idea as to when your revolvers were made.
    Best of luck, Scout
