9mm Target Pistol Recommendations
In my short time on the forum I've found if to be full of tons of advice and opinions, so I'm seeking info from you folks since I've been out of touch for a while:
What's your recommendation for the best overall 9mm for regular target practice?
I recently picked up a stainless S&W 6509 that was at a very cheap price, and find it to be a great carry gun, but have been thinking that someting a bit bigger, perhaps longer barrel might be better suited for target practice as I sharpen my skills.

"Target pistol" and 9x19 ammunition are not usually assoicated. The 9x19 is not known for accuracy, and there are few real target pistols chambered for it.
Without researching, I will relate what I recall being mentioned as "accurate" 9x19 pistols. The SIG P210 is usually mentioned as the most accurate 9x19 service pistol. Heckler-Koch made the 9x19 P9S in a target version. Beretta offers a target version of the M92. Some of the other European makers also make target pistols in 9x19.
All that said, if you want to develop shooting skills, I would recommend a good .22LR pistol to develop trigger control skills, etc..
As an aside, I am not familiar with a Smith & Wesson Model 6509. Could it be you have a M6906 or M5906?0 -

glock owners believe that the Glock 17 is very accurate. I have a couple of Glocks that I think are accurate. May want to check them out...they are a bit less expensive than the ones that Judge Colt offered, but he is on the money with his recommendations (as if he needed me to validate him[:p])
I also have a Brownin Hi-Power in 9mm that I believe is pretty accurate.

The only long barreld 9mm I have shot is Glock model 34.It is a long slide version of the model 17 with a lighter trigger.They run about $650.I prefer and own the 17 or 19 models myself.
If you want a real budget plinker that is a good gun in it's own right try any of the Ruger 22cal pistols.I prefer the bull barreled versions .

Check out the Witness 9mm pistol line. Very accurate guns.

S&W has a Model 952 that just came out. It is patterned after the Model 52 38 W/C target pistol. The gun is pricey.

I agree with the Judge! the words 9mm and accrocy don't seem to go togather. I gave up trying to find an accro one under $1,000 years ago. Want accrocy, go .45 acp[:D][:D]

As stated, 9mm is typically not associated with accuracy and target shooting. Browning at one time made a target version of their Hi Power, but finding one may be a problem.
22LR, 38 special ala S&W model 52, and 45 ACP are calibers more typically associated with target shooting.0 -

Is the EAA 9mm a CZ clone? I saw in a magazine that some fellow running a police style academy in Virginia won a contest with the Witness. I wrote to him and asked if he thought these were good guns. He was kind enough to write back and say yes, and that he did indeed win competitions with it.0 -
Yep, 9mm's aren't known as a target gun. ven though the Swiss used 9mm Lugers for years as target guns. Forget it you won't find one. However, there's nothing wrong with punching paper with one. Just don't expect one hole groups at 50 yards. Go find a 9mm pistol that fits your hand, has good adjustable sights, work up a load for it and have fun. 0 -
A Sig 210 will set you back a pile of cash, but they are very accurate. I agree with some of the above posts, find a decent
S&W, Glock, Sig, H.P. etc. that fits your hand and that you enjoy shooting and practice, practice, practice.....
Another suggestion, off the 9mm route is to buy a really good .22
target pistol. Lots of fun, cheap to shoot and you can work on your shooting skills without going broke....JMHO

Yes the Witness is a CZ clone. The all steel ones are much heavier though. My best friend & roommate has a Witness that he loves. Gun is super reliable and very accurate. I hate to say it but I've seen him do some amazingly accurate things at 25yds with this gun. In my opinion the Witness is a refined CZ75.
Only thing I don't like about it is it's very right handed. Ambi safeties from what I can tell are hard to come by. Me being a lefty this is a problem. CZ at least offers the CZ85 which is ambi.
