D.G. MOD 71 Mauser ?
I recently was given a D.G. MOD 71. I'am not sure of the cal. or who made it. On the top of the barrel is a Crown and Amberg stamped under it. It also has on the side of the barrel 5 more crowns in a row and under each crown there is a backwards D looking embel. On the receiver [same side] there is 3 more crowns,2have one type of embel the other is different.At the back of the receiver on the right side it's stamped 1877 two times and both stampings are different!

If it's a G-71 type Mauser, then it would most likely be chambered in
11mm x 60 rimmed.0 -
Your rifle (I assume that it is a rifle as you don't give the barrel length) is a Mauser Model 1871 made at the Royal Arsenal of Amberg in the year 1877. It is chambered for the 11.15X60R German military cartridge, which is also known as the 43 Mauser. 0 -

Hi, thanks for the info, I have one other question, I read on another artical that on the base of the barrel that the cal. wuold be stamped. there is a 10.95 stamped on mine. Does this mean that it's a 10.95mm ? thank you Randy0 -
Although Your rifle is marked "10.95" it chambers the standard 19th Century German Black Powder Military cartridge. "11.15 x 60 R mm" as the other posters told you. 0 -
The Snow Man is correct. The proper cartridge is the 11.15X60R. The marking 10.95 is the land diameter of the barrel, while 11.15 is the groove diameter of the barrel. 0
