    Hi and welcome......[:)]

I checked the ATF web site and this is what I found...

Chapter 2.3 Article 1 section 12276. gave a list of the weapons that are baned, the only SKS that was on there was the ones with detachable mags, but you should still check with your local gun shop and or your police department...here is the web site...

    Hope this helps

Thanks... I hadn't thought about contacting the Police.

I spoke with one Firearms shop that said no, but they kept bringing up the detachable magazine.

Then I spoke with a sporting goods store that sells rifles, and they said it probably wouldn't be a problem.

Needless to say, I got a little confused.

    Thanks for the tip!

SKS carbines are perfectly legal in the State of California providing that they do not have a detachable magazine (either original or aftermarket), a grenade launcher (like the Yugoslavian), or any of the banned features listed in Catagory III of the state assault weapons ban- folding or thumbhole stocks, flash suppressors, pistol grips, ect. Interestingly neither bayonets or bayonet lugs are considered assault weapon features under California law.
