CORBON 15?
I AM WONDERING IF THEY ARE ANY GOOD I FOUND ONE FOR 600.00 IS THIS A GOOD PRICE DO THEY SHOOT WELL OR NOT ANY FEADBACK WOULD BE WELCOMED THANKS

I am a fan, but there are legitimate big concerns.
1. Right now, Professional Ordnance is in re-organization bankruptcy and won't answer any calls. They may not come out of it. There is no customer support for these right now, and may not be factory support in the future.
2. They had (have?) a bad reputation for needing customer support. Perhaps this was just with their earlier guns, but many people had to send them back (or parts back) for repairs. Their customer service was good, and the repairs usually fixed any problems, from what I've heard. I have a friend who had to return a bolt, after it came back his gun was fine. Of course, there is no customer support right now.
3. Parts are not completely interchangable with MIL-SPEC parts, several of the upper parts, in particular, are dedicated to the Carbon 15.
4. They seem to prefer Thermold magazines, other magazines don't work very well.
I have a Carbon-15 Type 97 pistol, stainless fluted barrel, I just love, I won it at auction for $600.00. It was described as being in "excellent condition" and it was. I have a tendancy to believe the original owner probably had some problems with it and returned it. He then thought it best to get out from under it and auctioned it off. But it works great now, I'm impressed with function and accuracy. Of course, one great feature is the extremely light weight. Don't let the carbon fiber composite material concern you, they make aircraft out of the stuff, it is extremely resistant to damage and self-lubricating. It's great stuff.
I have been watching the prices, they should be coming down with Pro-Ord in bankruptcy. If they don't come out of it, I tend to believe someone will get their spare stock and it will be available. I also tend to believe someone (not the factory) will be around to work on them, there are enough of them out there it would be a good business for the right person. Of course, the service won't be free, as thet were in the past.
If I was buying one now, I'd be sure the seller offered a return for at least a couple weeks to give time to run some ammo through it. From what I've heard, any problems seem to pop up rather quickly.

Adding to what Boeboe said... I bought one of these a year or two after they came out. The gunstore I bought it from has a range so I immediately went out shooting but on the sixth round the bolt shattered. They offered to return it to Pro.Ord. or give store credit.
I told them to give me 24 hrs and found out that there was a large number of these shattered bolts occuring so I took the store credit.
The gunstore owner later told me that Pro.Ord switched to a stronger bolt. If you buy one MAKE SURE it is one of the later versions!0 -
I will second that....
I have one of the earlier Carbon 15 pistols.
My bolt broke clean in half after about 200 rounds. I called the Professional Ord folks, and they sent me a new bolt.
I also had extraction problems, and I sent the upper to them to be worked on.
They rechambered it and now it works fine.
As mentioned above, mine also seems to like Thermold mags.0 -

I`ll third all there comments, I sold 9 to customers and every one had to be returned to the factory for repair they all had feeing problems some had trigger group parts that broke, so my suggestion is for 6 bills add 2 more and get a bushmaster or a oly arms you won`t regret it...[8D]
