Ruger sp101 action
Hi all,
I have a sp101 .357 3", and I ordered a wolff spring kit for it. The kit came with an 8lb trigger return spring to replace the factory 10lb spring, and your choice of 9,10, or 12lb mainsprings to replace the factory 14lb spring. With the stock springs in, on the trigger return stroke you can feel something sort of grinding in the trigger, something that feels like its in need of polishing. When I dropped in the 8lb return spring, now the trigger hangs up at that point on the way back forward, you have to give it a nudge to make it return all the way forward. Is it just something that could be lightly polished, like with a felt wheel on a dremel and some jewelers compound? I cant see whats hanging up when its assembled, and I cant make it hang up when it's not assembled, so could some one give me a pointer to what it might be? Thanks

Sounds like you may have reinstalled the hammer bar reversed. When you put the pin in to remove the mainspring, did you put it back with the pin sticking out the same side? Also- had you shot it before the spring swap? It could be grit or primer residue in between the sear and hand.

Hello, get some lay out dye (usually from any place that sells machine tools or parts) and put it on the two surfaces. Reassemble and get it to do it again. Disassemble and look at the dye. See where it is wore off and polish there. Post pictures before you polish if you want to get a better opinion.
