CETME cast stainless vs. original type rcvr
What is the difference between a cast stainless and an "original type" receiver on the new CETMEs that are being sold? I am looking to get one and will be putting an order in tomorrow for one. I Know there is a difference in price but what is the difference in, say, durability between the two?

I've had both types. Both required a lot of work to get running properly, but the stainless cast gun seemed to take less work. Thunderbolt...thanks for the reply. Basically...is it worth buying one with the regular type of receiver. I'm not gunsmith...but I can follow directions with the best of them [:D]...would I be able to get a shooter out of it or will I be more frustrated than what its worth?

It is worth it, considering the cost of an HK versus the Cetme. Just be prepared to work for your fun and expend several hundred rounds of ammo getting the gun broken in. 0 -
If they come from Century, don't waste your time and money. Century's QC is crappy. A cast ss receiver is a marketing plug's idea. "Original type" is also a marketing plug's words. It's either original or it isn't. Go buy a CMP Garand or an M1A and save yourself a lot of grief. Cost you nearly as much as you will pay for the rifle to get it working. 0 -
Sunray...There aren't any CMP ranges anywhere near me and I was looking to get something now. I would love a Garand and wish the process wasn't so difficult for me considering the range time and match requirements.
