winchester 30-30 takedown rifle
i was given by my aunt a 30-30 take down lever action whichester...it is a bit loos wher the barrel and receiver meet..is this repairable? or shopuld i save my money and just hang it on the wall..the mfg date is aroung 1898 or so..thanks for any input

You might try adjusting the "fit". Remove the forend wood and you'll see three screws, tightening them can dimple out the rec. side of the flange enough to provide some additional metal to the worn area, and tighten the fit. I don't have a clue how badly damaged your threads/etc. are - but be sure to inspect for damage to the extractor cut. It's common in these take down guns that haven't been taken apart carefully. Almost anything can be fixed on them, but you won't have an original Winchester then. I'd try the screws, if that doesn't work hang it up and leave it alone. If you want a 30-30 lever gun that is a shooter, any sporting goods shop should have one that is inexpensive. 0 -
