EAA Witness vs CZ-75B
Looking for another pistol to compete in IDPA and I like the CZ design. Would anyone know how the European American Armory Witness and the CZ 75 B stack up against each other? I am familiar with the CZ quality, but have never had any experience with EAA.

Well I can't speak for CZ quality but I have the full size Witness in 45 cal and 40 cal. I think they are great. From my own personal experience I competed in a speed event with a borrowed spare mag and a borrowed holster and I came in 4th out of 18 shooters and I was competing against Colts, Springfields, Browning, Sig and Hk. I was using the full size .45 and I think for the money they are the best inexpensive gun out there. Hope this helps.[^] 0 -
IMHO the CZ has better 'consistant' quality than the Tanflogio(sp) pistol. I have seeen feeding/reliability problems with the EAA Witness 45 and 10mm. Maybe that is why CZ went to a little heavier version of their (CZ75) design for the 45 cal CZ97 instead of a design based on a 9mm.

Thanks royc38 and punchie. I am looking a the 40 S&W version, so I don't have to start loading for another caliber. I have heard the older EAA's had some feeding problems but aparently made some changes.

CZ overall quality much better.
CZ slides are usually tighter.

In my opinion, you can't go wrong with the EAA. I didn't always feel that way, but now I'm convinced. You get a great pistol for what you pay. I shoot competitively with Glocks, and on a whim, ran a course with my Witness Compact 9mm. Came out almost equal with the Glock. Also, they make for good platforms to do custom work on, considering the parts available and again, the cost. Good quality/relability on those Tanfoglios for the money.

I can see this isn't going to be easy. I get the same response 50/50 locally. I can get the EAA for a bit less, but have heard problems with feeding from the magazine. 0 -
I've never had a problem with either. Only recommendation I have is that you put a stouter recoil spring in the 40S&W & 45ACP versions, takes the bite out of the recoil and saves frames. Both are real nice guns.[:D]

A good friend of mine has a Witness 9mm. He has never had a jam with it. Has had it for a good 7 years now. The witness seems to me to be a heavier gun than the CZ, heck it's heavier than my Colt series 70 1911. The added weight is nice for accurate shooting. I think you would be happy with either gun. I do know that CZ was giving one 10rd + one free hi-cap with each of their CZ75's. Though hi-caps for the EAA are just as readily available.

I have no experience with a CZ but I do own a Witness 38 Super and it is a great pistol - reliable and accurate. Never had a jam or any problems with it with factory ammo. I'm going to start reloading 38 Supers so it will be interesting to see how it functions with reloads.
All I can say is that you can't go wrong with a Witness Pistol. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one.

My 2 CZ's have been flawless in the several years and 25,000 rounds I have had them. At a match over the weekend, My PARA-ordnance and my smith & wesson's both broke; but knock on wood I have never had any problem with either CZ75. The witness is a cpoy of the CZ that they simplified for manufacturing purposes with a few less parts. A few years ago they were very popular for building race guns, which says something in its own. Those guys load their 38 supers and 9x21's to rifle like pressures and then shoot a ton of rounds through them.
Why does everyone feel the need to burn that much powder?0
