1884 Springfield Carbine
I found a trap door carbine in very good shape, along with a cartridge pouch that also is original. I would like to have the gun, but do not know how much I should offer. This gun still has rifiling and is really clean. Help

If it is an original carbine rather than converted from a rifle, it is worth serious money. If it was a rifle you can usually see where the ramrod hole in the stock fore end was plugged. Find out about this first before getting too involved with the purchase. If someone else doesn't give you some dollar numbers, I will post you something tomorrow. 0 -

Or send me a complete description of the carbine includeing percent of blueing that remains,if the stock has been refinished,the date in the cartouche,serial number and condition of the bore and I will try to find it in my data base. Look out for cut down rifles as they sometimes can be hard to tell,especially if done by the government. There is a considerable difference in price between a cut down rifle and a genuine carbine. A cut down rifle will run about $500-$600 while a 1884 carbine will run $1000-$1500 or maybe a little more. 0
