BATF spefications to cut a full auto receiver.

where do I find info on what the batf specs are on cutting a full auto receiver so that it is legal? their website didn't have the info or I overlooked it. I have a drill press - can I drill a 3/4" hole(s) in the receiver so that it can't fire or does it have to be done a particular way?

  3 TORCH cuts, each removing a minimum of 1/4" of metal. They also have specific places where certain makes/models NEED to be cut.

  You need to contact the BAFTE- Firearms Technology Branch, 1200 Pennsylvania Ave. NW, Washington DC 20226. vicg1 information is correct about the torch cuts and the fact the each and every receiver requires cuts through a specific area to render the receiver DEMILED and legal (read that as useless). You need to get this information in WRITING from the technology branch to insure that every thing is done correctlty and legally- a web site won't do this nor will reading my post on Gun Broker (no matter how well written and insightful- just joking around guys).
  
  To be legal the receiver you want to DEMIL must at this momment be sitting overseas, in a bonded warehouse, or in a free trade zone. If you have it in your possession you have an unregistered machinegun and are looking at serious trouble. There always seems to be more to these types of posts than the person writing them lets on. What exactly do you want to do, where is this receiver now, and what do you plan to accomplish by DEMILING it? Simply making it unable to fire is not going to be nearly enough...you have to basically render it unusable for any purpose- both now and forever. Simply drilling a series of holes into the receiver is OUT OF THE QUESTION- what stops you from welding them closed at a later date? It must be torched and basically destroyed to be legal.

  Hi ya....
  Mark Christian is absolutly correct, I know in my state..(NJ) you have to give the cut reciever to the state police or the ATF.....
