Marlin-Glenfield
My brother just picked up a .22 rifle I can't find in my books. Maybe someone can tell me something about it.
Semi auto,made by Marlin for Glenfield, marked "Model 65, Golden 50" on the barrel. Nothing special about it, just an old .22 in decent condition, but it doesn't seem to be listed in any of my references. He's curious about how many were made etc, and a value if it has any. I think he gave $50.00 for it. Probably 70-80% in condition.

Recheck that model number, my book shows the 65 as a single shot bolt action

Yep 22WRF, I have the same problem, I found the single shot just as you did, but it sure ain't what he has..That's why we're curious, thought the "Glenfield" might have something to do with making it different, but if you look at Glenfield semi autos, all I find is Mo0del 60 and Model 99G. You has me word however, it is a semi auto, and it does say Marlin Glenfield Model 65 on the barrel. One of those unsolvable mysteries unless someone else can come up with an answer. Thanks anyway!

Maybe the good "Capt" has the answer.
Does it look like a 60 or 99?
Not much differance between a Marlin and a Marlin-Glenfield that I could ever see other than the Marlin has better wood than the Glenfield.
All parts inter-change.

I recently, call it november, sold one of these Glenfield rifles at the gunshop I work part time at. I believe we sold it for $75. I believe the rifle was identical to a Marlin Model 60.

Yea Guys..we're gettin' there. It looks exactly like a Model 60 to me drobs, so you're probably right. I called the bro and got better info. It is a Glenfield Model 65, manufactured by Marlin Firearms. NOT a Marlin 65 as I thought. So except for whatever "Golden Fifty" means, I think we got it. Fifty bucks was probably a good price.

Good price and a good shooter. Has micro-groove rifling.
A bear to clean. I have some drawings if you need them.
Have be careful to not kink the mainspring when putting it back in.
But tear it down I bet it has never been stripped for a good cleaning.

Oldgunner, the Glenfield Golden Fifty was made for Oklahoma Tire and Supply, Co.'s fiftieth anniversary in 1968. I went to work for them in 1970 and they may have called it the Model 65 in 1968. Does it have an emblem in the stock? I did see some used ones back then, but my memory isn't as good now. Hope this helps. Vince 0 -
