AR-15 gunsmithing question

I'm changing the bolt catch on my AR-15A2 to a tactical one. Is there a special tool I need to get the roll pin out? If not, how do I get the roll pin out without scratching up my rifle?

  James,
  
  Brownells makes a slab side punch for this application,
  but, I bought a punch and ground about half of the barrel down myself.
