Marlin 17V
Has anyone shot the Marlin 17v? Is it as good as the 17vs? Looking to buy a .17hmr but don't want to put out $350 for the laminated stainless. Thanks for any input.

I have as yet to shoot one, I have one over in the corner I just bought and have yet to sight in. A gun savvy friend of mine shot one and was very sceptical. He was made into a believer, says it's deadly out to 200yds.
Before making a decision, I looked at CZ and Savage. Savage seemed very nice but the one I looked at had a stiff trigger. CZ was exceptional trigger but had a shorter semibull barrel than the sporter. Go figger.0 -
the Marlin is a darn good shooter but if you want to save some money take a look at New england Firearms , these sell for about $140 - $160 in my area and the one I have shoots better than I can , the trigger isn't the best as it comes from the factory but 20 bucks to a gunsmith can take care of that, here's the site if you want to see it , its at the bottom of the page

When it comes to hitting your target, the 17 is awesome. I bought the little Taurus pump and the only problem I found when shooting a a target is determining how many rounds went into the same hole. It's a tack driver! Spend the money. 0 -
I have shot both the 17V and the 17VS. No difference in performance! Just picked up another 17VS for a guy last week and they had just unpacked a 17V and put it out on the rack @$199.00. The VS was $295.00. Take a look at the Savage Model 9317's also. I'm hearing great reports about them here as well as the Marlins. GHD 0 -
