    Designed by John Blake circa early 1890's. Tested by U. S. army. Patented late 90's. Sold commercially in small numbers, (4) grades, "A" Best to "D" Plain. Offered in various commercial and military calibers, both rimmed & rimless. Check out this auction link.

    BLAKE Bolt Actiobn Repeating Rifle. Made by J.H. Blake, New York,circa 1890's to 1910, approximately. Quantity unknown...Limited...!
    Caliber 30-40 Krag often encountered, but others known. Unique seven-shot rotary magazine inserted from underside. 30-inch barrel is usual with full walnut stock with checkered pistol grip and fastened by three barrel bands; wood cover over breech of barrel.
    Not a great deal in print about this maker, he manufactured and issued catalogs of a complete line of military and sporting models in various grades...all on this Action with the Rotary magazine.
    The military model was submitted to U.S. Trials of 1893, and was reported upon favorably, lost out to the KRAG. The New York State National Guard tested it in 1896 and it recieved military recommendation for adoption.It's thought that political machinations prevented it being adopted and being purchased...The BLAKE Bolt Action Sporting Rifle; Quantity unknown..! Blake's catalog stated calibers made to order for each gun from a choice of offered. Made in Grades A. B. C. D..... After the turn of the Century Grades changed to "Antelope Grade,Caribou Grade, Elh Grade, Deer Grade, Moose Grade, Grizzly Grade, Tiger Grade, Elephant Grade...Etc..All of the above guns were custon Made upon reciept of Funds at the time of Order...Value wise these guns in Good Shooting condition are worth $1500.00/$2000.00 and maybe more...depending upon the demand........Best.....
