Which barrel on Win M101?

When shooting the 101, you want to shoot the lower barrel first. This will limit the raise of the barrel from the shot due to it being lower in the axis and let you get back on target quicker. You would therefore want the upper ower barrel to have a tighter choke as you would be taking your second shot and presumably the target is further downrange.

I don't have my 101 with me, but if you take two snap caps, pull the trigger and open the action, I believe the snap cap on the fired barrel should eject while the unfired barrel should just raise the snap cap.

I should be back tomorrow night so if no one can tell you for sure, I will check my 101 and let you know.

Doc - Normally the under barrel is the more open choke, so that would be the barrel to be shot first. You should probably check the markings on the barrels. They will be marked somehow with * - x or something and these markings will tell you what the barrels are choked. Sometimes the under barrel is the tighter choke.

Hi Doc, The under barrel of your Win 101 will be the more open choke if it is a fixed choke gun as opposed to gun that uses choke tubes. If you push the barrel selector/safety to the right and then forward you will be firing the under barrel first. If you look at the selector, if pushed to the right you will see a letter "U" indicating the under barrel is set to fire first. Likewise, if you push it to the left you will notice the letter "O" for the over barrel to fire first. As for choke, if you take off the forearm, the barrels will be marked as to choke on the left side near the breech. Hope this helps.

Without the NRA, the second ammendment would already be gone!<P>
