Gun Model Question
Good morning all..I'm new to this forum and I was hoping I could find some answers to my questions. I am the owner of a DA .38 revolver given to me after my grandfather passed away. The serial numbers 152xxx match, it's not a "peacemaker", I've looked and I can't find pictures of my gun anywhere. The handle is black but not pearl, and is rounded at the bottom. Anywhere I can post a pic of it? I would be greatly appreciative to anyone who can help me identify my gun, and let me know approximately how much it is worth..if anything.
There are also 3 patent dates on the gun, Sept. 19, 1871...Sept 5, 1874...and the bottom one reads Jan 18, 1875. It does have some rust on it...someone broke in to the house years ago and took the gun, only to leave it lying in the yard for who knows how long before my grandparents got back from vacation.
Thank you all in advance.

vamedic4, Welcome to the board.
difinitly need pics or more info. sounds like you could have a new line series or variation of. mfg.1873-1884
you could also have a 1st generation civilian/commercial mfg.1873-1940
and if that's the case, you need some serious professional help/advice.
the serial # you provided shows mfg.1890-1896.
Unitl you find out exactly what you have, it's hard to give any pricing info.
There is too many options with the same info you gave, plus if you add into consideration all the variations, they range from 500.00-25,000 dollars0 -
You have a Colt Lightning. The value depends on condition, barrel length, and whether it's an ejector model. Prices range upward
from $300.0 -
Yesssss...It appears I do indeed have a Colt Lightning .38! Thank you all for your input. I'll post some pics and maybe you can help me determine some value. [:)]
Pics to come soon. THanks again!0
