Plinking ammo
I have an AR-15 that I would like to buy some plinking ammo for. I reload but i was wondering if wolf or something like it would be ok to shoot through this Bushmaster.

I have been looking for some good cheap plinking ammo. The calibers I am looking for are: 7.62x39, .223 Remington, and 9x19. I have heard some bad things about Wolf and was curious what everyone had to say. I have been looking at some Silver Bear ammo and would like some feedback. Is there a specific manufacturer one should avoid or lean towards. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hi and welcome...wolf ammo is cheap in price and you should have no problem with it, you just have to remember that it is steel case ammo not brass, I`ve run about 2,000 rounds through my colt and have had no problems, a nother cheap ammo is sellier and bellot and it is reloadable,brass cased and boxer primed.[8D]

Ditto, I'd go with the S&B if possible, burns a lot cleaner. I had a case of Barnaul ammo in 223 that worked great too. There is also some "Silver Bear" Russian ammo that works good in 223 rifles as well.

For plinking, I uses S&B in everything except my AK. I use Wolf in that.

Do NOT, I say again, DO NOT buy S and B if you are looking to re-load it. Out of 40 rounds I reloaded, 27 ended up being spit out with full length splits either on initial firing or when fired after being reloaded.
I personally don't use Wolf in anything other than my AK/SKS- these weapons system were designed with steel cases in mind, as well as laquered ammo. I've heard of too many problems with the laquered cases "gumming" up chambers and being a PITA to clean out. I also don't want to abuse my extractor like that.
Onthe other hand, I am willing to give the Silver Bear line a try, but have not as of yet.

Ditto on that, don't reload the S&B 223 ammo. Also, the Wolf, Barnaul, and Silver Bear ammo I mentioned is Berdan primed and not reloadable.

Has anyone had any expirence using this surplus ammo in a Bushmaster. Will it damage any on my gun like the extractor. Thanks everyone for your help. 0 -
The Bushmaster is made to military specifications and should handle any military surplus ammo.
