I see that most LE and Military snipers shoot 308's. Why is this? Is this caliber more superior than any other?

The caliber is accurate, and it has sufficient power to be lethal at long distance. While the cartridge/bullet are are good for accuracy, it is really the rifles that make the accuracy count. That does not mean the caliber is necessarily the only choice .223's are used at 1000 yards, nor is it necessarily the best choice for other applications like varminting or deer.

Another reason LE snipers use .308's in addition to its long range power retention is its ability to penetrate veh windows and plate glass with less deflection than with the .223

The 308 is quite inferior to the 300 Win Mag, when it comes to penetration of chance barriers, and the BAR is available in the 300. The Boss Comp lets you "tune" the BAR's barrel vibrations for best accuracy with any given load, and it also reduces muzzle jump. Naturally, the BAR also offers a truly fast second shot, and its gas op action reduces felt recoil by 1/4. The BAR is also pretty heavy, at 9 lbs, which further reduces the belting that a 300 Win gives the shooter.

laredo is correct . deflection was one the main criteria for the 308.
range was also a strong factor.
