S&W Sigma 40V
OK I picked up a sigma 40V like new (i think mint) for $329. Was that a good deal? I wanted a sig 220 or 226 or a glock 22 or S&W 4043tsw but I had to go with the price. How does the sigma rate?

Hi ya...the sigmas are an ok gun....the price was not bad you could have gotten it for cheaper, also smith was sued by Glock for trying to copy the design for there pistol. I think you would have bin happyer with your other picks,I`m not a big fan of the sigmas...[8D]

I like the Sigmas so much better than Glocks, although I am sure that the Glock is a more reliable and durable gun under harsh conditions. However, the later Sigmas were redesigned to eliminate the problems with the early guns, and are close to the Glock in reliability and durability. And they do not blow up!
The grip shape and angle are about the best I have ever felt. (I do not like the Glock grip angle at all.) I love the way they point. High capacity magazines are not quite as expensive as Glock high capacity magazines. The price paid was pretty good for retail.
The Glock law suit was over some design feature as I recall. I think it was settled. Clearly, the Sigma was intended to capture the Glock market, and Smith evidently got a little too close to the Glock in trying to capture the same market. However, since the Glock is so well accepted, a pistol close in design and features should be a positive rather than a negative.0 -
When you feel the trigger pull, you will wish you paid $29 for the gun and the other $300 on strength and conditioning clases to pull the trigger! When they(Sigmas) first come out, I bought one for my brother. We had it a month then practically gave it away, we wanted to get as much space between us and the gun.[xx(] 0 -
I am really impressed with the sigma. My best friend just bought one, and on a side by side comparisson with my glock 22, internally its basically the same gun. The sigma in my opinion has a much better feel to it in the hand, seems a little more compact, and the price of the gun is less than that of the glock. The only downfall to the sigma in my opinion is that its trigger pull is hard, but seems to get better the more you shoot (I think it polishes itself out)
When we went to shoot his new gun, I actually outshot my glock with the sigma using winchester usa 165gr fmj ammo.0 -
The trigger pull on the Sigma and Glock seem about the same to me. Both are not up to a good single action pull. The long, mushy pull is characteristic of the Glock and Sigma. If one wants a much better pull, a different design will have to be selected. 0 -

I think that was what I really wanted to say but got wrapped up in my hate for hard long trigger pulls. If one is ok with the pull, I guess that it would be a good gun for that person. We just never got the feel for it. I still think the price is a bit too high.0 -
My wife shoots one in a .40 I think hers is a VE. As close to glock you can get, I don't care for it but, I don't shoot it I shoot a KImber ultra carry. The smith fits her hands and she shoots it very well and that is what counts.
