Savage model 24
How does a person date the Savage model 24 22 over 410? Does anyone know what years they were manufactured? I have a couple with wood stocks and the barrel selector on the side. Any help will be appreciated.

I had one I had bought for about that $180 figure and sold it for about $165. It wasn't 'minty' tho ok shooter. It seems the farther
south, the higher the demand. We can get tangled with some game seasons here, as can't have a rifle deer hunting, ect. (shotgun slug or pistol only)0 -
At 200 it would be a steal for me in OHIO, I have been looking for a good one for the last 3 shows, the best I could find was a 22-410 for $240 with considerable rust on the reciever and questionable lock up. Needless to say, I am still looking.

The blue book is way low on the 24. A real good one will go for $ 275
if it has a walnut stock.0 -

BTW...I bought a brand spanking new one in 1977 for $99!! It was 22/20 though. Guy at hardware store even threw in a box of each kind of ammo and a gun case. What a bargain!

I sold one with walnut stock and side button selector for $350 5 years ago. They seem to bring a premium here in Indiana as well. I had one with the hammer selector that I got $225 for recently. Neither was new enough to have serial numbers.

The side-button models are the ones that bring a premium. The earliest plastic stock models are collector items and command a premium in collector condition. 0 -
Here in Oklahoma, I got a 95%+ one for $250 but I looked for several years. Bargains are out there, but you have to be patient and have money in hand. My old 24 beater that I used for cottontails for years was $125 and it looked like it'd been through a war, but it worked fine. 0 -
