cylinder won't turn

before I throw my .38 special Rossi 5 shot snub nose in the trash
I thought I'd run it past you guys. It worked fine for several years. Then, when my wife was using it in a gun safety class, she pulled the trigger and the cylinder froze or jammed and would not rotate no matter what she or the instructor did. After that it went back to woking fine until the other day when I was shooting a snake with CCI
shotshell and after 3 shots the cylinder again froze or jammed when the trigger was pressed. I took the gun to the range yesterday and it worked perfect again. Anyone know what the problem is and should I jnk this gun. Thanks.

  Sounds like you need to tighten the cylinder crane (I think it's called). We have a range gun, S&W 686, that has this same problem, though the gun has had millions of rounds through it. Periodically we have to tighten the the crane which I believe is a left hand thread.
  
  If nothing else take it to a gunsmith before you toss it. Get it working then maybe sell it off.

  I have had a couple of Ruger revolvers that had the same symptom. Turned out to be a very small spring loaded pin in behind the trigger assy that got gunked up. A thorough cleaning took care of the problem. Never owned a Rossi, so this may not be even close to your prob. I would get it checked and sell it. Nothing worse than a gun you don't trust.

  Thanks for the suggestions. I will thoroughly clean the gun. Drobs, what is the "cylinder crane "? Is it the little rod that goes through the middle of the cylinder?

  The "crane" is the arm the cyl is on and folds out to load or reload.

  The crane is that assy that swings out and that the cylinder mounts on.

  Check the ejector rod to see if it needs tightened. If so, a couple drops of lok-tite will solve your problems.
