300 mag, high magnification scope
I need one that will stand up to a 300 win mag and kill ticks far out.

Check out Leupold, Ziess or Swarofski. They all build scopes that will stand up to the big mags. They are also CRYSTAL CLEAR and don't drift from zero after repeated recoil events. They have a wide range of magnifications, crosshair types and ,most importantly in a mag scope, eye relief distances. They also provide top notch mounts and rings for their products. These of course are my preferences, you will surely get other suggestions from other folks here.0 -
My suggestions would be (in order of price)
Burris signature 6-24x44
Leupold vari-x III in 6.5-20 or higher
Leupold Long Range 6.5-20x50 or 8.5-25x50 side focus
Nightforce NXS 5.5-22x56, 8-32x56, 12-42x56
The last two beign my personal choice for being able to "click" to your target. The nightforce scopes are nothing short of amazing, but I am quite impressed with the leupold long range I recently purchased as well. The NXS does also have the advantage of an illuminated reticle.
why chase the game when the bullet can get em from here?....

Any of todays scopes that cost over 180 bucks new will handle the 300WinMag recoil. They have to or they'd be out of business.
Don't go cheap. JustC's line up is great.
Another advantage of the scopes he's mentioned is eye relief.
The better, more expensive scopes won't cozy-up to your eye brow.
Which is known in some circles as "Scope Bite".

Leupold all the way! I won my first VXII 3-9x40 with NRA turret covers at a Friends of NRA Banquet & Auction several years ago; used Millett rings to mount it on my Ruger MKII in 300win mag and after a few shots, keeps 'em all in the middle at 500yds.
The new LPS line is cool, too.
My TRG-S wears a Zeiss 5-15 Diavari with a 42mm objective:Exceptional optics! Over 1500 rds. so far, and it still clicks true!

I too prefer Leupold scopes, even over the expensive European optics. Depending on what you're going to do with it, I'd re-think the idea of "high magnification". If you are going to use it for long distance practicing or something, then you'll be fine. However, if you are going to use it for deer in anything except open plains I'd opt for a mid-range variable. It is much better (IMHO) to under-magnify than to over-magnify.
Point in case: I have a Remington 700 BDL SS DM .300 win mag with a Leupold Vari-X III 4.5x14x50 and I have had countless shots that I literally could only see hair through the scope because the deer was so close. I shot an 11 point 2 years ago at less than 10 yards (probably closer to 5 yards), needless to say I could see individual hairs on his kill zone.0
