Anyone know about model 48 Rem. 12 guage gun?
A store about an hour away has a semi-auto shotgun,model 48 Remmy.Anyone know if these are decent gusn,approx years of productions,and is it worth 200.00 if it's clean and decent?

I've had a few come through. Make real sure the forearm is not cracked. Remington didn't make them long if that gives you a clue. 0 -
The 11-48 and sportsman 48 replaced the model 11(Browning patent auto 5) after wwII. It was the same long recoil design but more economical to make and looked more modern. More than 500,00 were made froom 1949 to 1968.It was made in all 5 gauges, many grades and was very popular and dependable. Just price a high grade or any .410 or 28 ga. and you will see that they are still popular and collectible. Great shotguns- go for it, especially if 90% or better, vent rib and 20 ga. or smaller. 0 -
I came up with more precise production numbers: 455,535 for the 11-48 plus 275,198 for the Sportsman 48 for a total production of the type of 730,733. 0 -
They are great guns. I own 3 and have had no problems with them. They are recoil operated and mine function with loads gas models have problems cycling with. As mentioned be sure and check the forend as they are prone to cracking if the friction ring is not set properly. 0 -
All I know is I really need a barrel for one. I really enjoy mine even with a dinged barrel
