    I found this in my safe cannot remember when, where or how much i paid.

    Its Serial is BPM 1776 model 36-7
    what is the meaning of bpm and when was it produced ?

    Crawdog.... I have seen the little J frames with bobbed hammers, some of my fellow cops use them as back-ups.

    They had the exhisting hammers bobbed by a gun smith, or a machinist.
    As long as you stay away from the pin that secures the firing pin, you should be able to complete the job.

    Brownells offers a bobbed hammer for the Smith & Wesson 36, item number 940-000-046. Call them at 641-623-4000. This is safer than simply removing the hammer spur, which can cause misfires due to loss of weight in the hammer.
