Dilemma/Quandary Re: Gulf War Souvenir
I know this isn't the right forum for this; but you guys are knowledgeable, moral folks that own guns, and I think this is actually the perfect venue for my friends' problem.
You see, he found this envelope on the side of the road some years ago that contained an apology from the US Gov't to a Sp4 female that was "jacketed" for what the units' superiors said was "fraternization"; and she called "sodomy by sergeant".
Suffice to say, he has tried to find this woman with no success, even going to the unit commander and trying to find out where she might have gone after the war.
His "problem" is that he needs to pay some medical bills (unlicensed drunk hit him), and he was thinking of putting the letter on ebay.
I told him that NO WAY should he do that; it's not right!
I defer to you, Gentlemen(& Ladies), help me set him straight!

You're right, this isn't the correct forum for this.
But, since you asked --- It may be the US Govt's trash, but it's still US Govt property; more than one person has gone to prison for removing US Govt trash from dumpsters. Of course, this could be great for your friend; medical care is provided without charge in all federal prisons.
I doubt that any auction service would permit the sale of personnel documents. They, and most of the rest of us, find such a prospect to be morally repugnant.

Tell your "friend" that not only will he receive the free medical care but he will need a lot of money to pay for the law suit that any person mentioned by name in the "official" correspondance can file . By the way I think it is just so much BS that an envelope was found on the side of the road.I have sent a copy of your question to some people that will be looking into this "lost" correspondance. Your friend wants to pay his medical bills at the expense of other people.It burns my retired Army butt just reading your question, if I could bury one of me legs up his south bound he could polish the toe with his pea sized brain. 0
