    just bought a savage .22 cal autoloader model 187j, has a tube,15rd, mag, and also has a shell deflector mounted on rec. would like info on value and possible fix for it's failure to lockup and fire after initial round has been fired.have scrubbed action and bolt and tried different ammo but still having problem, excellant shooter, put two rds in same hole at 25 yds. so really would like to make it serviceable. thanks for any advice . grizz.

    Grizz;
    As far as the value, I havent a clue. As for the problem,
    I would suggest a new main spring. It is entirely possible that the old spring has lost enough strength that it won't push the bolt forward fast enough to close completely.

    I just had the same problem with a JC Higgins (hi standard) rifle and the problem was at where the bolt meets the barrel(chamber) there was a build up of old power that had turned almost carbon and would not let the bolt close all the way and there for not allow the inner safety off Lee

    just took down this little savage again and checked out suggestions, found the problem, some other wannabe smith like me had installed a too long screw in the trigger assembly to reciever, which caused drag on the bolt as it tried to cycle. yeehah, rapid fire, no jams. hope this will help someone else in the pursuit of complete cycling,thanks for the suggestions grizz.
