New England Firearms question.
I just acquired a new New England Firearms, model SS1, Sportster, 22" bull barrel, synthetic stock, in .17HMR caliber. My question is, will the receiver accept other barrels in different calibers, or is it limited to rimfire only? I would like to get a barrel in .223 or maybe even a shotgun barrel. What do you think? Thanks for any answers..[^][:D]

Limited to rimfire only due to the location of the firing pin. You can rebarrel in 22WMR or 22lr however. Only the SB2 rifles and SB1 shotguns can be fitted with different barrels.

bhayes420..Now I just have to pick up a set of Weaver rings and mount my 2X7 Weaver on it. It came with bases. I wonder what height rings I should get? Low, medium or high? Thanks for the info. 0 -
crims40...My son has a Handi-Rifle in 243. When we mounted the scope on it, we had to go with medium height weaver rings. I just went to look for the box to get the height, but can't locate it.[:(] The reason being was that to get the scope set right for his eye relief, with the low mounts, the bell of the scope was right over the hammer and you couldn't cock the gun very easily, even with the hammer spur. Just not enough clearance. Low mounts might work for you, depending on how you need the scope set.

Thanks a lot for the info. I'll try the mediums first. They probably will work fine. I installed the hammer spur today and will pick up some rings tomorrow. [8D] I'm really anxious to try it out. [:D] 0
