Pre Ban Older Bushmaster
What is the receiver design of the pre AR Bushmaster rifles? Some had charging handels on the top. Some had charging handels on the side. The used AR mags. Were they any good and why did they go away? OK experts, whats the skinny on this one and thank you for the information.[8D]

I had one of the early ones many years ago. It came with a wooden stock, I didn't like the light colored wood, so I painted the wood black. I don't recall exactly but the operating system was different then the AR, although it took AR magazines.
Those early ones had a poor reputation for reliability, but mine worked fine! The only problem I had with it, was with the flash hider. The material quality was very poor, the gas pressure actually deformed it! I replaced it with another make with the same mounting threads, it worked fine.
My Bushmaster had a very tight chamber, had problems with my reloads. It wasn't as accurate for target shooting as compared to a AR, but functioned OK.0
