Old 22
Well guys, here I am begging again. A single shot 22 came my way. The only ID is H Pieper. It has a 22 inch octagonal barrel with a curly cue trigger guard , with a checkered pistol grip stock. Overall length of gun is 37 inches. It has a strange hammer receiver combination. There is a small handle appliance that when snapped back has the firing pin inside.. In order to load this baby this contrivance must be pulled back, shell inserted, then closed so the hammer can strike the firing pin. The stock is one piece. Any help would be much appreciated

WildBill: What you have is a Henri Pieper, Herstal, Belguim 1884. Became Nicolas Pieper in 1898, and in 1905 became Anciens Etablissments Pieper..The little gun you discribe is virtually a Flobert Rifle...used to shoot for Beer in the Pubs....and also used as a Parlor Gun ....Almost everyone I've seen shoots the .22 BB. Cap or .22 CB.Cap. A few later Models had a Lift Breech and could be adapted to shoot the .22 Short...But keep in mind these little guns were never made for serious hunting...Just Target shooting..The metal is Soft and the Action are not all that strong...Value wise...in Good Shooting condition....$150.00......
