Firearm Lubricant
I am sure this topic has come up at least 10 times on this board. I service and customize saltwater reels. I am always looking for a super slick lubricant yet will resist corrosion. One that I have found is called Corrosion X (no spam or affiliation). I have been usng it on firearms as of late and find it to be very good. Bolt actions are super smooth. I also like it for the anti corrosion factor.

I actually prefer to use graphite on my guns, I have found that after shooting that they gum up less with a dry lube than with a wet lube. 0 -
I've always used Rem-Oil or DGF (dry graphite film)

Corrosion X is anti-corrosive and is good for freeing rusty parts,but it will gum up semi-autos and other fast moving things. 0 -
Maybe I am wrong here but Corrosion X is a derivative from oil that is used in bearings of skateboards, rollerblades and roller skates.
possible those are not fast moving enough as you say.

It's a lubricant, just a low-viscosity, low-pressure lubricant. Firearms are subjected to high speed and contact points that are under extreme pressure (ie: locking lugs). Because of this, you want a lube that has high galling resistance and good bonding strength. Although lighter lubricants might seem "slicker" they may lead to premature wear and failure of a firearm in actual usage.

Thanks makes sense now. Corrosion X might be good as an outside wipe down for storage to prevent corrosion.

Amberjack, You are not wrong. If some folks would look around. They my see that Rem-oil came in last place during a corrosion test.
Corrosion X is far higher viscosity than Rem-oil. CX is the best bearing oil I have seen in 33 years of being a machinist..
Amberjack we have a unfair advantage living on these old salty costs.

It is a bit light, but its good all temperature lube. I also use Mobil 1 synthetic spray lube for some of my rotary bolt guns. Some of the air tool oils work good to, they're usually moly-fortified. Get an actual lubricant not a penetrant, right stuff for the right job.[:D]

LUBRI-PLATE and CLP have worked for me as long as I can remember[:D][:D]
